RedMac Ag Services has concluded a two-day training event featuring Case IH combines and MacDon fronts at the Moora Recreation Centre. Approximately 70 customers from the district attended to gain insights from US harvest specialist Peter O’Connell, just in time for this season’s harvest.
The sessions, held on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 September, gave local operators the chance to get hands-on advice on RedMac’s Case IH Axial-Flow line-up — including the AF9, AF10 and AF11, alongside the Case IH Axial-Flow 8250 — as well as a look at MacDon’s FD241 and FD261 FlexDraper fronts, with machines and headers on display for growers to inspect throughout both days.
Day One: Open Floor, Strong Turnout
Monday’s session was open to all growers, whether they were already running Case IH Axial-Flow combines or weighing up an upgrade, and the turnout reflected the appetite for it — roughly 70 attendees made the trip in from across the district. O’Connell drew on decades of hands-on harvest experience to walk attendees through set-up, operation and the finer points that don’t typically make it into an owner’s manual.
With the AF Series and 8250 combines parked alongside MacDon’s FD241 and FD261 fronts, attendees had the chance to look over the full harvest package firsthand rather than just hear about it in a classroom setting.
Day Two: An Inside Look at the AF Series
Tuesday’s session was reserved for an invite-only group and went deeper into Case IH’s newest generation of combines, the AF Series — encompassing the AF9, AF10 and AF11 models that now anchor RedMac’s harvest equipment range, with the 8250 also on show. The focus was on getting the most out of the latest technology in these machines, with O’Connell offering insight drawn directly from his time working with the platform in the US.
A Rare Opportunity for Local Growers
Bringing an international specialist like O’Connell to the Wheatbelt gave local operators direct access to expertise that’s normally out of reach, and with around 70 customers through the doors across the two days, the event underlined the strength of interest in the district ahead of harvest. The MacDon FD241 and FD261 fronts on display rounded things out, giving growers a chance to see the full harvest package — combine and front — together in one place.
With harvest fast approaching, the training reflects RedMac’s ongoing push to make sure growers across the Three Springs and Moora districts are set up and confident with their equipment before headers hit the crop.
